Emotional health issues have become more common among the first-year college students. There are 1 in 5 students who very often feel depressed, and this results in missing lectures often. For the students going through emotional problems lead to having a very challenging college life.

This blog aims to help you find resources helpful for commencing a more peaceful and better college career. But if you think that you need a treatment then contact a medical professional immediately.
The following guide can help you to identify, speak, and get help for your mental health which take place in your college life.

    MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES IN COLLEGE:

    Depression:

College depression is not a disease nor a disorder. Depression is a mood & a feeling that causes a determined sense of sorrow, loss & left-out for a long duration. It is not that you are weak, or you cannot prepare yourself to come out of that phase.
If you feel like this, then move out of your room, talk to others, go on a trip with your friends or family & spend time with your loved once. Keep in mind that if you handle your academic, social and personal life properly, there won’t be a time of depression in your life.

    Suicide:

Be it an academic failure or Relationship break-ups. There is a large count of students attempting suicide. Promises broken, an expectation not met, loneliness, feeling helpless are also the reasons for which students feel that it’s the end of their life.
If these kinds of thoughts are running in your mind, call your best friends and talk to them. Suicide is an avoidable tragedy, so you must understand that there are people out there who care for you. And they will be more than happy to help you to get over this situation.

    Skip Meals:

There is always a time in college when your self-image isn't right. You look at yourself in the mirror and see only flaws. And this directs to skip the meal, not having it on time or eating anything junk. This disorder isn't just about weight or eating, bearing stress & self-esteem issues are also the main problems for this. Many students with an eating disorder don't realize this, nor seek treatment.
But if your friends are noticing it and telling you about it, then you should consider it and take it positively. As an eating disorder can be cured, you should take the first step towards making it possible.

    Addictions:

Smoking, drinking alcohol, or drugs has become very common among college students. If you find yourself turning to drugs or alcohol more regularly to absolve sensations of stress or sadness, then talk to your professor or someone whom you can trust. They will surely help you in handling these things and getting it in control.

    Insomnia:

The best way to restore your energy and prepare yourself for the next day's activities is to SLEEP. It helps you to stay fit, sharpens memory, and fights physical & emotional illnesses. Sadly, college students often sleep less than they need to. Lack of sleep can affect your health, mood, and behavior. On average, human needs 6 to 10 hours of sleep a day, while this can vary depending on each one.
If you find yourself sleeping less, then it can be because of your academic stress or tension about submissions, or some personal issue. In any situation, keep a habit of completing the topic/subject once is done in the class. This will help you in all ways to stay calm and happy.
Always remember sharing your feelings with your closed ones and letting them know about what you are going through is the best. They will always understand you and find a way to get you out of this.

So, stress less & enjoy your college life more!
